The KCL Film Society: The UK's Largest Film Society

As the UK’s largest and most active film society, we have hosted four-time 2025 Oscar winner for Best Picture Sean Baker, world-class actor Richard Armitage, Mission: Impossible composer Lorne Balfe, Gladiator II composer Harry Gregson-Williams, Harry Potter editor Mark Day, Hollywood producer Steve Sarowitz, Paddington editor Mark Everson, The Room (2003) star Greg Sestero, and Star Wars: Andor star Robert Emms, alongside many other notable industry guests. We were also invited to Denis Villeneuve’s screen talk at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival.

Each year, our five commissioned short films premiere at the KCL Film Festival in June, showcasing the incredible work of our members on the big screen.

Our calendar is packed:
🎬 Tuesdays — Filmmaking workshops, Q&As with industry guests, or special events, followed by socials at The Vault.
🍿 Thursdays — Weekly screenings followed by socials.
✍️ Bi-Weekly — The Writer’s Room, where we develop scripts for our annual short films.

Whether you’re an avid cinephile, an aspiring or established filmmaker, or simply looking to meet new people and watch great films, Film Soc is the place for you!

Membership Plans

We offer two main membership streams:

1. Filmmaking Membership — £20 (KCL students) / £25 (non-KCL)
   Access to all our filmmaking activities, the Writer’s Room, hands-on production opportunities, and the chance to take on crew and cast roles (subject to availability) in our five annually produced short films, which premiere at the KCL Film Festival. Membership also includes all socials and weekly screenings. Perfect for aspiring filmmakers, writers, crew members, and anyone seeking practical experience.
2. Social/Screening Membership — £5 (KCL students) / £10 (non-KCL)
   Access to all socials and weekly Thursday screenings. Ideal for film lovers who want to meet people, watch great movies, and be part of our community.
