Kabaddi is a traditional South Asian contact sport that emphasises teamwork, speed, and strength. KCL Kabaddi was first established in 2014 and now, in just over a decade, both our Men's and Women's teams consistently rank among the top 5 teams in the UK, with both teams winning the national UK championships in 2025!
Don’t worry if you’ve never played before, it's very easy to pick up! With the help of our experienced captains and friendly returning players, you'll be playing like a pro in no time. Many of our players only started in university and with time and lots of practice, we've had players go on to represent England in international tournaments!
We have regular matches against other UK universities as part of the National University Kabaddi League (NUKL), engage in (and sometimes host!) tournaments, and go on to compete in Kabaddi Nationals in February. This year, we are also hoping to collaborate with other London universities such as UCL to host recreational sessions and bring more people together to play this amazing sport.
No matter your background or confidence in your skills, we'd love to have you as part of the team!
We hold taster sessions at the beginning of each term, but if you'd just like to pop in and see what it's all about, feel free: training is usually on Wednesdays from 2-4pm for the Women's team, and 4-6pm for the Men's team in AR4, Guy's Campus. See you there!
