The Official King’s College London Women’s Football Club

KCL Women's Football Club is one of the best and most vibrant societies at King’s! If you love football or just looking for a fun, supportive community to join, you’ve come to the right place. Our club is all about football, fun and family, and we’re excited to welcome players of all skill levels and from every course.

All three of our teams train weekly together (with separate coaches) on Thursdays at King’s Honor Oak Park Sports Ground, starting at 7:30PM to fit around your studies. We also play games in and around London. Regardless of your football experience, you will certainly find a place here at KCLWFC. Our mission is to involve and encourage as many women as possible at King's to get involved in the sport we are all passionate about!

Football

Last season, our First Team cooly bought home the Macadam Cup (against GKT), won the international Le WEFT tournament in Paris and placed second in the LUSL Cup Final. They are also reigning champions of the official Varsity cup against UCL. Nicknamed the ‘Mentality Monsters’, victory is synonymous with KCLWFC’s first team. Led by Amber and Angelina this year, they’ll be celebrating more wins on Wednesdays (BUCS League) and Sundays (LUSL). Win or lose, this team are all about fun. The first team mostly consists of semi-professionals, amateur footballers and those gifted with footballing talent.

Our Second Team are equally as passionate about football, ending the season on a high by winning their Mini-Macadam by a thrilling penalty shootout. These girls will sometimes be spotted giggling as they practice (very interesting and bizarre) goal celebrations after working hard at training sessions. Having been promoted from their Sunday (LUSL) league and comfortably retaining their Wednesday (BUCS) position, the French captains Lena and Sanya are ready to lead the Tekky Two’s to another season of highs and le fun. The second team is aimed towards intermediate players.

Although our Third Team mainly supports beginners and recreational players, they also enjoyed the taste of promotion in their Sunday (LUSL) league. The Fantastic Threes’ coaches will prioritise on building skill and confidence on the pitch. These girls are just as core to KCLWFC as the other teams; they always bring the life to the party, whether it’s pre-match warm-ups, trainings or to socials! Do not underestimate the Third Team as the underdogs, Ayesha A and Rutaba are ready to steer the team through lots of wins this year. The third team is catered for a wide mix of experience levels; some girls may have played extensively but prefer a more relaxed environment whilst others are just beginning to fall in love with football.

We love winning at KCLWFC (and we win a rather lot).

Fun & Family

At KCLWFC, winning off the pitch is just as important. We are not just a team – we are a family and we want everyone to feel right at home to KCLWFC. Our club was named KCLSU Club of the Year 2023 and KCLSU Team of the Year 2022 for our standout performances and community spirit.

KCLWFC’s social events are legendary, with themed Sports Nights every Wednesday and big turnouts at every event. Our end-of-season tour is always a highlight – this year, over 40 of us took over the Magaluf strip! (You may see some interesting costumes on our Instagram…) With Ayesha H and Indi as our social secs this year, we’re definitely going to continue being one of the most social clubs at KCL. And don’t worry, drinking is never mandatory – we make sure everyone has a great time, on or off the booze.

We were invited to the Le WEFT tournament this year, where HEC university hosted us and a range of universities. We are looking to make a return (and continue as reigning champions) as well as enter other international tournaments as we know these are great opportunities to make memories outside of playing in the regular leagues.

Expect many club-wide dinners, team bonding nights and plenty of moments to make lifelong friends.

Arielle, our fitness sec will be leading many fitness initiatives this year, with the first being online competitions/challenges and physical fitness tests at Under Armour.

Wellbeing is a priority at KCLWFC. Your mental health matters and the committee will always have your back. Our wellbeing sec, Lucy, will also be leading charity initiatives this year. In the past, we have paired up with We Are Donors KCL to help boost numbers in blood donations and we hosted a quiz night alongside KCL Handball, raising funds for the Malala Fund.

Of course, we cannot forget our social media secs, Darci and Emily! Expect some fantastic social media posts as we celebrate our wins, fun Tik Toks to get involved in and your memories captured on our channels.
