We are the home of Athletics at King’s College London
We are one club for all students who want to run, jump or throw – competitively, socially or just to stay fit. To cater to every single type of athlete we have many training session weekly. These sessions range from coached track and field sessions to massive Wednesday Bootcamp Runs round the River Thames, Weekend long runs, and more!
We compete regionally against the other London university clubs throughout the year in the London Universities & Colleges Athletics (LUCA) competition programme which is open to all members no matter their ability, as well as nationally, where we compete at the BUCS XC, Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
We offer 3 different types of memberships.
The competitive membership (training at Southwark park track): This is our full membership. It allows a member to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from on 19:00 to 20:30 under Southwark AC coaches who have accolades such as being former Olympians and international athletes from late September/ early October to the end of May (including during term holidays). Saturdays are also free but numbers may be limited the sessions are un-coached but you will still have access to the track for free on Saturday mornings 10:00 until 11:30. Also, this membership is needed to compete at BUCS where you are representing the club as it includes an England Athletics number for a member.
Benefits
- Great value membership £208 worth of training with Southwark AC for less than half price
- Subsidised entry costs into 4 open meetings for the 2025 season
- Free entry into LUCA XC events and LUCA Track events
- Free hotel and partial subsidised travel costs for BUCS events
- England athletics number and registration included in membership (required for regional and national championships)
- Officially licensed England Athletics club
The competitive membership (excluding training at Southwark park track): This is also a competitive membership for athletes who have their own training arrangements and don’t wish to train at Southwark Park track. It includes all the benefits of the membership above with the exception of access to Southwark Park track on our training days.
The social membership: A social membership gives access to any boot camp runs which are held every Wednesday at 2pm starting from Bush house or any social runs done in conjunction with other clubs/events . You can use the track at Southwark but will be charged each time per use (likely £6).
You will also be able enter competitions such as LUCA should you choose so but will have to pay entry costs yourself.
The associate membership: ideally for any keen athlete that wishes to train with our friendly and inclusive club but is not a Kings student, it holds the same benefits as a competitive membership but you can’t represent KCLAX at any competitions such as BUCS and you will have to pay your own entry costs for competitions such as LUCA.
We are a friendly, mixed-gender club that caters for everyone, whether you want to train up for your first 5/10k run, compete nationally, want to make new friends or just want to get away from the busy city and work, we are the club for you!
If you are unsure if you want to join, you are encouraged to come along to one of our taster sessions! If you want to come around contact us through our WhatsApp group or DM us on our Instagram :)
