KCLSU is looking for 2 Photo assistants who will be responsible for shooting, editing and producing engaging photography content for use across KCLSU channels, both printed and online. The Photo Assistants will be responsible for shooting and editing engaging photography for use across KCLSU channels, both printed and online. The post holder will capture and edit content across the week, allowing you to balance this role with your studies.
Responsibilities include:
- Under the direction of the Content Creator, capture photos for use on KCLSU marketing collateral, social media, emails and website
- Photograph key KCLSU projects including Varsity, Macadam, KCLSU Awards, Elections, and other campaigns and events across the year
- Take briefs from the marketing team to support commercial requests including food and drink photography, The Union Shop products and commercial event coverage
- Capture photography from student groups meet ups, training sessions, concerts, shows and a range of events
- Independently plan and run photoshoots, confidently directing subjects
- Edit photos via Adobe Suite, working within the KCLSU brand guidelines
- Populate the internal KCLSU Media Library
Successful Photo assistants will have:
- Experience producing high quality photography
- Experience directing subjects during a photoshoot
- Experience covering live events
- Experience running studio shoots
- Experience taking headshots
- Experience shooting sports
- Experience shooting products (food, drink, clothing, etc)
- Experience producing social media content (desirable)
- Experience shooting video content (desirable)
- Understanding of camera equipment and how to set up shoots and locations
- Understanding of how to work within brand guidelines
- Proficient in photo editing with a knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
- Reliable, punctual and flexible with a proactive working style
- Confident, friendly and approachable by nature
- Have a creative outlook to photography
- A commitment to the principles and practices of equality and diversity

Eligibility

- Be a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of King's College London.
- Be eligible to work in the UK, and provide proof of this (i.e. a passport/visa) when asked by KCLSU.
- Have a National Insurance number, or be in the process of applying for one.
- Not be a trustee of King’s College London Students’ Union. Trustees should not apply for a role whilst in their term of office, or should their application be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.
- Ex-Trustees can apply for student staff (non-administrative) roles, as soon as they finish their tenure.
- Ex-Trustees can apply for career staff / permanent staff roles, only after a year has passed of them being a trustee. Applications submitted within the year should not be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.
