The Video Assistants will be responsible for producing, filming and editing engaging multimedia content to be used across KCLSU’s digital channels, including social media, website, emails and screens across campus. The post holder will film and edit content across the week, allowing you to balance this role with your studies.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Content Creator on video shoots, including interviews, vox pops and event coverage
- Work independently, and with the Content Presenter, on weekly short-form video concepts including fun and relevant content specifically for TikTok and Instagram
- Take briefs from the marketing team and create video content to support our bars, cafes and shop
- Edit footage using professional editing software
- Ensure all video content is correctly captioned and accessible
- Understand and work within the KCLSU brand guidelines
- Populate an internal video library with new and existing content taken throughout the year
A successful Video Assistant will have:
- Experience capturing high quality video footage
- Experience video editing
- Experience producing video content specifically for TikTok and Instagram
- Experience storyboarding content and writing scripts
- Experience directing subjects during a shoot
- Experience shooting photography (desirable)
- Excellent English writing ability
- Understanding of camera equipment and how to set up shoots and locations
- Knowledge of recording sound and how to set up microphones for interviews and voiceovers
- Understanding of how to work with brand guidelines
- Excellent understanding of Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro
- Reliable, punctual and flexible with a proactive working style
- Confident, friendly and approachable by nature
- Have a creative outlook when producing video content
- A commitment to the principles and practices of equality and diversity

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this role you must:
- Be a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of King's College London.
- Be eligible to work in the UK, and provide proof of this (i.e. a passport/visa) when asked by KCLSU.
- Have a National Insurance number, or be in the process of applying for one.
- Not be a trustee of King’s College London Students’ Union. Trustees should not apply for a role whilst in their term of office, or should their application be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.
- Ex-Trustees can apply for student staff (non-administrative) roles, as soon as they finish their tenure.
- Ex-Trustees can apply for career staff / permanent staff roles, only after a year has passed of them being a trustee. Applications submitted within the year should not be accepted or progressed to the interview stage.
