This Disability History Month, we are highlighting our alumni who champion the rights of Disabled People.
David Stanley is a disability equality campaigner, teacher, composer, and CEO of The Music Man Project, a multi award-winning international music education service for people with disabilities. David studied his undergraduate and master’s degrees in music here at King’s, as well as the Royal Academy of Music and the Institute of Education (UCL).
In addition to an established career as a teacher and musical director, David currently focuses his efforts on The Music Man Project, an accessible music service for those with disabilities. He trains his students to become well-rounded and valued musicians in society, having performed in some very impressive venues.
David was awarded the Medal of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s 2021 New Year Honours List for services to people with Special Needs, in addition to numerous other awards both individually and for his project The Music Man.
