It’s nearly the end of Semester 1! Your Officers have been so busy over the last few months, and we’ve already seen some great achievements. Read on to find out more about their great work…
Your President, Baiyu, worked with King’s Examinations and Assessment team and KCL’s Chinese Students' and Scholars’ Association Students to give Graduates the option of downloading a digital version of their degree certificate, helping you get your credentials in time to apply for job or sit civil service exams! To find out how to access your digital degree certificate, check out our article here.
Baiyu has also worked in collaboration with King’s and KCLSU outlets to expand culturally inclusive facilities and services, bringing mooncakes to the Shack after this year’s Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and securing free hot water dispensaries across campuses. You can find the full list of hot water locations here.
When it comes to protecting students’ rights, your Officers are tireless. When international students were at risk of delaying their studies, your Officers signed an open letter and released a statement calling on the Government to delay biometric checks that are preventing students from beginning their studies. You can read the full statement on our website here. They also released a solidarity statement for Trans Awareness Week, voicing their support for transgender and intersex students who may have been affected by the Supreme country ruling and upcoming EHRC guidance. You can read the Trans Awareness Week statement here.
Your Officers are also involved in rent-setting meetings with King’s, working to ensure accommodation is affordable for all students. Watch this space for news on how they’re advocating for you at discussions with the Estates and Facilities team at King’s.
We’ll keep bringing updates for you so stay in the know by keeping an eye on our news page and your Officers’ profiles.
Have a great break and we’ll see you in January!✨
