Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, support staff and students who made it possible!
King’s College London has won the 2016 London Varsity Series!
Our athletes clinched the coveted trophy on Friday 11 March, when the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams got the better of University College London (UCL) in the signature match up of the series at a packed Allianz Stadium in Watford.
The atmosphere was electric as the women trounced their competitors 48-0, while the men played to a nail biting 14-11 finish.
The results were the last in a series of outstanding performances by our teams, who went toe to toe with UCL in 17 sports over eight days of intense rivalry.
King’s won both Men and Women’s Hockey, Medic’s Hockey, Volleyball and Basketball. Our teams also triumphed in Women’s Waterpolo, Netball, Medic’s Netball and Lacrosse, as well as Men’s Fencing and Badminton.
Historically a rugby game between King’s and UCL, the London Varsity Series is now a full week of sports fixtures. 2016 was the biggest year ever for Varsity, with 17 sports played over 8 days. UCL won the 2015 series.
