KCLSU Officers

Beloved Students,

We hope this message finds yourselves and your families in good health and that you are coping well with the unprecedented circumstances.

Get in touch

We just wanted to take a moment to check-in, and also express our sincere gratitude to you for your patience and resilience in such tough times. Please know that we, your officers, are here for you, and do not hesitate to get in touch with us if there is anything at all that we can assist with.

Residences

We understand that some of you may have returned home, but others may not have had that opportunity. Please rest assured that we are consistently working with King's Residences to ensure that our students are not disadvantaged in any way, should they choose to stay or leave. We recognize that not being able to go back home may adversely affect your mental health, therefore we are working with King's Counselling to fast-track students who are unable to return home for appointments. For students who live in King's Residences and have chosen to go home, Residences are offering a refund on the third and fourth instalments depending upon the contract. You should have received more information in an email from the Residence team. For students who are self-isolating, please let the university know by filling the self-isolation reporting form so that they are able to offer you their full support.

Examinations and assessments

Further, we understand that you may feel anxious about examinations and assessments, concrete information about the structure shall be released shortly by King's. We are working hard to ensure King's include suitable adjustments across the board, taking into account the current circumstances.

Academic support and resources

However, if you do feel that you have been disadvantaged, please feel free to get in touch with us or the KCLSU Advice service which is now available remotely.

We encourage you to also leverage websites such as Coursera, who are offering their courses for free to students who have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. This Facebook group, created by a few Postgraduate students from across the UK, offers support from your peers while studying.

Graduations

We are aware of the recent announcement about King’s not being able to deliver the graduations in July. We appreciate that this would indeed be disheartening news for you, your family and friends. We are currently trying to understand the nuances of the future celebratory events mentioned in the announcement. We will work to ensure that despite the difficult circumstances your achievements are celebrated and recognised.

More resources

Finally, linked below are a few more resources for support. We are extremely proud of the community we have at King's and are working relentlessly to ensure that students' best interests are represented.
