Group of the Month – The Rolling Tones

The Rolling Tones have had an exceptional year, showcasing creativity, musical excellence, and commitment to the King’s community.
At the start of the academic year, they released their Witches at Work EP, entirely arranged and produced by current and alumni members. Featuring covers of songs by Hozier, Florence + The Machine, Beyoncé and RAYE, the project demonstrated the group’s artistic ambition and collaborative talent. Their arrangements contributed to the group being ranked among the top collegiate a cappella groups in the UK at last year’s national competition.
In December, they hosted their most successful Christmas Concert yet at King’s Chapel, achieving record ticket sales to support their upcoming participation in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAs) at the end of February.
Alongside competitions and recordings, The Rolling Tones have performed across numerous King’s events and external charity functions, including fundraising events for Samaritans, continuing their long-standing partnership with the charity.
Congratulations to The Rolling Tones on winning Group of the Month!
Project of the Month – KCLNC x KCLWRFC x KCLWFC Charity Quiz Night

This month’s Project of the Month goes to the collaborative Charity Quiz Night hosted by KCL Netball Club, KCL Women’s Rugby Football Club and KCL Women’s Football Club!
The student-led event brought together over 100 participants for an evening of fun, teamwork, and fundraising, raising more than £300 for CoppaFeel! Breast Cancer Awareness, double the amount initially anticipated.
The success of the evening was down to the hard work and coordination of the three clubs’ Charity Secretaries, who worked closely to organise the venue, write quiz questions, arrange prizes, and promote the event. The strong collaboration between clubs was evident on the night, creating an engaging and well-run event that participants thoroughly enjoyed.
This was the second fundraiser hosted this year in support of CoppaFeel!, bringing the total raised so far to over £600 and exceeding their original target.
Congratulations to KCLNC, KCLWRFC and KCLWFC on winning Project of the Month!
Volunteer of the Month – Alavi Hossain, Bangladesh Society

This month’s Volunteer of the Month is Alavi Hossain, President of the Bangladesh Society, recognised for his leadership and commitment to extending volunteering beyond campus.
Alavi led the planning and delivery of a Basic Life Support teaching session designed specifically for non-medical participants, focusing on essential life-saving skills including CPR and the use of a defibrillator. Recognising that members of the public are often first on scene in cardiac emergencies, he ensured the session was accessible, practical, and confidence-building.
Acting as volunteer lead, Alavi personally attended a local community centre to organise, coordinate and deliver the session. He adapted medical content into clear, non-technical teaching, led hands-on demonstrations, and created space for questions and discussion to ensure participants felt confident in recognising cardiac arrest, contacting emergency services, and taking action.
Alongside this initiative, Alavi has also been extensively involved in widening participation work at King’s, volunteering with the Community Garden, representing KCLSU within the NUS, and serving as a trustee, demonstrating sustained commitment to community engagement throughout his time at university.
Congratulations to Alavi on winning Volunteer of the Month!
