We’re excited to share that KCLSU club members have been shortlisted for two BUCS Awards this year, recognising the incredible talent, commitment, and community spirit of our student sports community.

Sportsman of the Year – Mohammed Salim Ibrahim (Taekwondo & Karate)
Salim’s achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. Despite an injury that cut his season short earlier this year, he has brought home more than 50 medals during his time at King’s, earned multiple Grand Champion titles, and represented Great Britain on the international stage in Karate.

Beyond his own success, Salim’s impact as a leader, coach, and role model has supported other King’s athletes to reach new heights. This is his second year in a row as a shortlisted Sportsman of the Year – a true testament to his dedication.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award – KCL Tennis: Inclusive by Design
KCL Tennis has been a trailblazer for inclusion. Their ‘Inclusive by Design’ initiative brought over 300 students into the sport through events tailored to underrepresented groups. With dedicated programming across Black History Month, disability inclusion, LGBTQ+ events and women's leadership, they didn’t just get people on court – they built a culture of belonging. It’s no surprise they’ve been shortlisted for the third year in a row.

Massive congratulations to Salim and the entire KCL Tennis team – KCLSU will be cheering you on at the BUCS Awards on 17 July!
