Drop-ins: Talk Through Your Ideas
Our volunteering team runs regular Drop-ins, open to all King’s students. These informal sessions are a space to ask questions, explore ideas, and get practical advice.
You might already have a clear idea, or you might just know that you want to get involved. Either way, we can help you think through your next steps and point you in the right direction.
Start Something from Scratch
If you have an idea you want to develop, we can support you to turn it into a meaningful and sustainable volunteering project. This includes help to:
- Shape your idea into a clear and achievable plan
- Identify and work with community partners
- Understand the needs your project is responding to
- Recruit volunteers and build a team
- Design activities that create real impact
You do not need prior experience, just motivation and a willingness to learn.
Ongoing Support for Your Project
We offer practical, hands-on support at every stage of your volunteering journey, including:
- Safeguarding training
- Free DBS checks
- Guidance on risk assessments, policies, and best practice
- Ongoing support as your project grows
Our aim is to make volunteering accessible, safe, and rewarding for everyone involved.
Apply for Volunteering Funding
If you need resources to launch or develop your project, you can apply for KCLSU Volunteering funding, available exclusively to student-led volunteering initiatives. We open different funding windows throughout the year, so there are multiple opportunities to apply as your project develops.

Funding can be used to support materials, events, or other essential resources that help strengthen your project and increase its impact.
