This week, we are reminded of the incredible work our student volunteers and groups do every day to make sure you all feel welcome at this university. But the truth is, KCLSU is proud of you every single day of the year, and there are many ways to show our gratitude beyond this special week. Your hard work deserves to be recognised, and we want you to know that there is a way to do so all year round! These are the awards and recognitions you can expect to receive as a volunteer for KCLSU:

Monthly Awards

Each month, you will be able to nominate yourself, or someone you know, for our Monthly Awards, including three categories: Group of the Month, Project of the Month, and Volunteer of the Month. Have you seen someone do an outstanding job this year, but you are not a volunteer yourself? Nominate them! And do not be shy: if you think you have made an important contribution, back yourself and sign up for our awards!

If you win, not only will you get a shout-out in our newsletters, but you'll also receive a prize. Winners of Group of the Month and Project of the Month will have £50 added to their student group account, while Volunteer of the Month will get a £10 voucher. It's a great way to highlight the amazing work you're doing and to share your successes with the KCLSU community.

Volunteering Hours Awards

Just because you are a volunteer, this doesn’t mean that the time you spend taking care of each project goes unseen. We encourage you to track your volunteering hours through our logging hours portal to get a formal recognition of your hard work.

Just like in your university course, you will be credited for the time you spend in training sessions, running events, or in meetings. Once you start accumulating hours in the portal, this credit will convert into Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Awards.

These awards come with official certificates to proudly show off your contributions! And do not underestimate the value of these certificates for your CV… The time you spend enacting positive change tells us of your personal and professional development. That’s why we want you to get formal recognition for it!
