Group of the Month – KCL Men’s Football

KCL Men’s Football have shown exceptional leadership and community spirit this month. Now in their second year of partnership with UK for UNHCR, they continue to demonstrate how student sport can support meaningful global causes. They've also confirmed the second annual UK for UNHCR Charity Match with KCL Women’s Football and Queen Mary Football, highlighting their commitment to collaboration and social impact. This is set to take place on Wednesday 22 October at the London Stadium Marathon Track in Stratford.
Looking ahead, the Club organised and spearheaded the first-ever KCL Sports Mixer on Wednesday 24 September - an ambitious event bringing together all KCL sports societies with support from KCL DJs and KCL Radio. This will give both Freshers and returning students the chance to connect across sports ahead of try-outs and training. Alongside their outstanding social media presence, KCL Men’s Football are leading by example in uniting the KCL sporting community and raising the profile of student sport.
Congratulations on winning Group of the Month!
Project of the Month - Kung Fu Seminar with Grandmaster Samuel Mendonça

We are proud to highlight this project as an extraordinary milestone for Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu. For the first time, the Society flew in Grandmaster Samuel Mendonça from New York to lead a week-long intensive seminar in Seven Stars Praying Mantis Kung Fu. As one of the most recognised experts of the style, Grandmaster Mendonça offered students a rare chance to experience world-class training here at King’s. More than 20 students attended, many describing it as the highlight of their martial arts journey so far.
The seminar not only enhanced technical skills but also deepened the sense of identity as a community, inspiring members to train harder and remain committed to the Society. This initiative embodied the Society's mission to provide authentic martial arts training, foster resilience, and celebrate cultural heritage. It showcased the dedication of the club to creating opportunities that go beyond regular sessions, while contributing to cultural exchange and student life at King’s. This project reflects the very best of what student groups can achieve through passion, collaboration, and commitment.
Congratulations on winning Project of the Month!
Volunteer of the Month – Finley Cooper

Finley has been an essential part of the KCL Tennis core committee this month and his work truly deserves recognition.
As Club Secretary, he carries the heavy responsibility of securing courts for the club — never an easy task, since KCL Tennis is one of the few King’s clubs without a fixed sports ground. This month in particular, Finley faced unexpected challenges when our long-standing partner, Kennington, was unable to provide the court time we had anticipated. What could have been a major setback for the Club quickly turned into an opportunity to see Finley’s resilience and dedication in action. Instead of letting the situation disrupt our training schedule, he calmly and proactively reached out to multiple venues, negotiated alternatives, and managed to secure solutions that allowed our members to keep training without interruption.
The most impressive part is the way he handled these obstacles: with composure, persistence, and a strong commitment to the wellbeing of the club. Thanks to his efforts, players were able to focus on their game rather than worrying about logistics. His work behind the scenes ensured that the club continued to run smoothly despite the difficulties. Finley has shown this month that he is not only reliable, but indispensable. His problem-solving skills, initiative, and unwavering dedication make him a cornerstone of the committee. It is thanks to volunteers like him that KCL Tennis can thrive, and that is why he truly deserves to be recognised as Volunteer of the Month.
Congratulations to Finley on winning Volunteer of the Month!
