Step Up, Speak Up: Lead the Way at KCLSU Elections 2026

KCLSU Elections

Becoming a student leader is one of the most rewarding things you can do during your time at King’s. Whether you want to represent your peers, shape your community, or build skills for your future career – there’s a role for every ambition in this year’s KCLSU Students’ Elections.

This is your chance to back yourself, grow your confidence, and make real change at King’s.

Key Dates

Nominations: Monday 26 January – Monday 16 February

You’ll have three weeks to put yourself forward for one (or more!) of the following positions:

  • 6 x Elected Student Officer roles

  • 4 x Student Trustees who sit on KCLSU’s Board

  • Student group committee positions (like Presidents, Treasurers, and Social Secretaries)

  • Academic Association committee members

To stand in your student group’s elections, you’ll need to have bought your membership before nominations open.

Memberships freeze at 10am on Monday 26 January, so make sure you’ve joined your group or society before then!

Candidate Briefings: Monday 16 – Thursday 19 February

If you’re running for a Student Officer or Trustee role, you’ll be invited to a mandatory Candidate Briefing.

These sessions will walk you through everything you need to know about the process, campaigning, and what support’s available. This is also when we’ll take your official Candidate Headshot for our Elections webpage.

Meet the Candidates: Tuesday 24 February

Once nominations close, check out our Elections page to see who’s standing to represent you this year.

Read their manifestos, find out what matters most to them, and start thinking about who you want to vote for.

Voting: Monday 2 – Thursday 5 March

Your vote decides who leads KCLSU.

How to vote:

  • Vote online anytime via the KCLSU website (8am–8pm daily)

  • Or vote in person at polling booths across campuses (10am–4pm)

Voting closes at 4pm on Thursday 5 March, so don’t leave it to the last minute!

You must be logged in to your KCLSU account to cast your vote online, and remember to bring your King’s ID if voting in person.

If you need help voting or experience any issues, email the KCLSU Elections Team – we’re here to support you.

The KCLSU Elections use the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system, a fair and proportional way of voting that lets you rank candidates in order of preference (1, 2, 3, and so on). If your first-choice candidate doesn’t receive enough votes to win, your vote automatically transfers to your next preferred candidate – so your voice always counts, even if your top pick doesn’t make it.

Results: Thursday 12 March

We’ll announce the winners on our website and email all members to introduce your newly elected Full-Time Officer team.

Please bear with us if pages take a little longer to load; it’s one of the busiest days of the year!
