Calling all Strand and Waterloo based students: 10 cheap – and fun! – things to do around Strand campus
1. Union bars or cafes
Visit one of the union bars or cafes for some super cheap food and drinks (including tonnes of vegan options!). Try the curly friesand chicken goujons combo – it’s a classic.
2. Go to the theatre
Watch The Lion King, Dream Girls, Kinky Boots and the other amazing musicals London has to offer after a busy day of lectures. You can find discounted student tickets here and all the theatres are in walking distance.
4. Join an Activity Group or Sports Club
Join a dance class, practice your martial arts skills or talk about Harry Potter with one of our student activity group or sports clubs. They often have free taster sessions and membership prices are cheap as chips – and sometimes even free!
5. See the view from Bush House
Visit the 8th floor terrace in Bush House for the perfect view of London and a banging insta picture.

6. Head to Covent Garden
Roam around Covent Garden and have some yummy food at one of the many restaurants spread around the area. Many of the food places, like Zizzi, have up to 40% student discount during the week, which you can get with your Totum NUS card.

Chill out, meditate and de-stress in the sparkly new Meadow on the 8th floor of Bush House South East Wing. What’s better than bean bags and fake grass?
8. Ever been to Somerset House?
Visit Somerset House, which is literally right next to Strand, and its amazing art for free. Student perks!
