Should the students’ union focus on rent rebates from private landlords or tuition fee refunds from the government? Both? Neither?

Should our bars stop selling meat? What about bottled water? Should prices go down to reduce the cost of student life or up to accommodate better wages and higher quality products?

Should we try to persuade the university that library fines should go up so people return books on time or down so students save money?

What will students need as we emerge from the pandemic?

The union’s elected officers make decisions like this all the time. They’re not always clear cut and sometimes involve some tough compromises but they’re the ones talking to people in the university, local councils, other student organisations and the government.

The students elected this year will make decisions about where the union’s time, money and effort goes on students’ behalf. Those decisions will affect your sports club, your society, your social life, your studies plus those of future students here.

Voting in the union elections is an easy and direct way to have your say on what the union does and what student life is like. Over the next few weeks, we’ll help you get to know the candidates and their ideas for KCLSU. You can then vote online from 1st March to 4th March at https://www.kclsu.org/elections/.
