Easy Bakes for Busy King’s Students!

World Baking Day, observed on 17 March, is around the corner! What better excuse to put the books down, tie on an apron, and treat yourself to something sweet? Baking is more than just making snacks; it’s a way to relax, get creative, and enjoy the little things!

 

We’ve rounded up some easy recipes that anyone can make. Ready, set, whisk!

 

 

 

1. Mug Cookie

Late night in the library? Craving something warm and chocolatey? This one-mug cookie is a lifesaver.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • A handful of chocolate chips

How to:

  1. Mix everything together in a mug.
  2. Microwave for 40–60 seconds until cooked but gooey.
  3. Enjoy straight from the mug – or top with ice cream if you're feeling fancy!

 

 

 2. 3-Ingredient Banana Cake

Got a couple of bananas going brown? Don’t bin them, bake them.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • ½ cup milk

How to:

  1. Mash the bananas and mix in the flour and milk.
  2. Pour into a greased baking tin or cupcake cases.
  3. Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes until golden and springy.

Optional extras:
Add chocolate chips, cinnamon, nuts, or swirl in peanut butter. Instant upgrade.

 

 

3. No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake Bites

No oven? No problem. These creamy, crunchy bites are made for fridge-only setups.

Ingredients:

  • 8 Oreos (crushed)
  • 100g cream cheese
  • A bit of icing sugar (to taste)

How to:

  1. Mix the crushed Oreos with cream cheese and a bit of icing sugar.
  2. Roll into small balls and place on a tray.
  3. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes (or freeze for 10 if you're impatient).
  4. Optional: Dip in melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles
