World Mental Health Day is happening on the 10th October. At KCLSU, we want all students to thrive, no matter their background or experiences. For World Mental Health Day, we’re opening up the conversation about mental health and how we can support each other through the Rise Festival and Look After Your Mate Wellbeing Lead Training.
The day will include free activities like a Make Do Play creativity zone, interactive exhibitions and refreshments along with evening events like ‘Creative Dance with Trinity Laban’ and ‘Stripped Back’ to open up the conversation about mental health. Visit the Rise Festival event page to get all the details. https://www.kclsu.org/ents/event/7306/
We’d like to create a supportive community at KCLSU so that we can talk about how we are doing beyond World Mental Health Day. Because of this, we now have Wellbeing Leads who are student leaders responsible for considering and improving the wellbeing of their societies, sport clubs, activity groups and associations. These students are trained in basic mental health literacy, how to support a friend who is struggling, sign-posting and how to run wellbeing initiatives through the Student Minds' Look After Your Mate Training. So far, we have 55 sport clubs, societies and activity groups who now have a trained Wellbeing Lead! If you’d like to be a Wellbeing Lead of your group, there are still training sessions left that you can find details on here: https://www.kclsu.org/getinvolved/wellbeing/
