Making Change: What You Need to Know

Unsure what you can get involved in as a King’s student?

As part of an active, engaged and diverse community, you may come across opportunities to get involved in marches, demonstrations or protests.

You may be aware of an inter-university march planned on 7 October. This event is not a KCLSU activity, so we recommend you remain vigilant and follow the guidance provided below.

KCLSU supports students’ rights to lawful freedom of expression and peaceful protest, and has processes in place to support this. You can find out more here.. King’s has also developed guidance on how to participate safely in demonstrations and protests.

Raising a concern

If you’re concerned about something that happened or something you saw during a demonstration or protest, there are different ways you can get help and support.

Reporting bullying and harassment

If you experience or witness inappropriate behaviour, you can report it to King’s through Report+Support. You can also discuss your options for specialist support and possible action.

Emergency situations

If you find yourself in a dangerous situation and need immediate help, call 999 and ask for the Police if you’re not on a King’s campus. If you’re on campus, alert King’s Security.

You can also download SafeZone, the free safety and wellbeing app for King’s students and staff. Through the app, you can contact the King’s Security team for help in an emergency, after an accident, or if you feel vulnerable on campus.

Seeking advice

Whatever you’ve experienced, there are different support services available. The teams are made up of professionals who work with students every day and can help you find the right support for you. Find out more about the support available on our website.

You can also speak to a Counsellor online or in person through King’s Counselling and Mental Health Support Services. It’s free and confidential, offering a safe and supportive space to explore what you’re going through. The service is available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday during term time.

Outside these hours, you can contact Student Services Online.

Talking to your student officers

If you’d prefer to take a less formal approach, you can contact your Student Officers directly at studentofficers@kclsu.org.They’re happy to listen and help you work out what to do next.
